The Hong Kong ICT Awards 2009: Best Business (Application-SME) Award |
These award streams honour and promote examples of successful and effective in-house application of IT to heighten the competitive advantages of company products or services. The Awards will be given to the organisations that have successfully incorporated information technology into existing business operations.
The Best Business (Application-SME) Award is exclusive for the SMEs in Hong Kong. Manufacturing companies with less than 100 employees or servicing companies with less than 50 employees are regarded as SMEs. (For definition of SMEs, please visit

The Hong Kong ICT Awards 2009: Best Business (Product) Award |
This award stream is granted in recognition of outstanding achievements in technological innovations. Product can either be (i) a software product that can be distributed and licensed to the customers in the form of a package or (ii) in the form of an online service that can be subscribed by its users.

The product is developed and copyrighted by Hong Kong registered companies. |

Written testimonies from at least three customers of the product must be supplied with the application. |
- |
Detailed description of the product must be provided by either (i) printed product leaflets, brochures, or (ii) a link to a website where such information can be viewed or downloaded. |

The first 10 pages of the product usage guide must be supplied with the application (user manual, technical manual, installation manual, or other relevant manuals, depending on the nature of the product).

The Hong Kong ICT Awards 2009: Best Business (Start-up Company) Award |
This award stream is established to recognise start-up ICT companies which has developed innovative and superior ICT products.

Product can either be (i) a software product that can be distributed and licensed to the customers in the form of a package or (ii) in the form of an online service that can be subscribed by its users. |

The product is developed and copyrighted by Hong Kong registered companies. |
- |
The company must be registered on or after May 2007 (2.5 years from the date of application deadline on Oct 2009). |

At least a beta version of the product is available and there is a pilot customer who is participating in the testing of product at the time of the application.

Written testimonies from at least one customers of the product must be supplied with the application. |

Detailed description of the product must be provided by either (i) printed product specification or design documents, or (ii) a link to a website where such information can be viewed or downloaded. |

The first 5 pages of the product usage guide must be supplied with the application (user manual, technical manual, installation manual, or other relevant manuals, depending on the nature of the product). |
Gold, silver and bronze awards will be presented in four award streams respectively. One of the gold award winners among the four streams will be selected winner of the HKICT Award 2009: Best Business Grand Award and nominated to compete for the ultimate accolade of the "Hong Kong ICT Award of the Year"
