The
Hong Kong International Computer Conference 2004 (HKICC2004)
was successfully held on 8-9 December 2004 at the Hong Kong
Convention and Exhibition Center, with the theme of “Local
Excellence, Global Success” chosen to
duly recognize Hong Kong’s home-grown companies that have
effectively capitalized local talents and IT resources to succeed
in the global marketplace.
The HKICC2004 was officially opened alongside
another HKCS-organized event, the Asia Pacific Information
and Communications Technology Awards 2004 (APICTA 2004) by
Mr. John Tsang, JP, Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology,
the Government of the HKSAR. It drew more than 550 senior
IT executives and professionals from Hong Kong and all over
the world in the two-day conference. Prominent international
and local speakers provided insightful presentations on the
hottest topics in the IT industry and shared their views on
the success factors and future strategies with the participants.
Since first held in 1978, HKICC has received
overwhelming response and support from the IT industry. The
conference is not only an ideal platform for participants
to understand the latest IT trend, but also a valuable opportunity
for IT leaders and executives to explore new business and
technology models, as well as to enhance their business network.
Last but not least, I would like to express my
sincere thanks to all our distinguished speakers for their
enthusiastic contribution; to the members of the Organizing
Committee, Programme Committee and staff of Hong Kong Computer
Society for their concerted effort and dedication in making
this conference a success; and to our sponsors for their generous
support.
Thank you
for you valued participation in HKICC this year! I look forward
to seeing you in HKICC2005.
Dr.
Jerry J.T. Yu
