VOTE
- Mobile Video Object Tracking Engine
Submitted
by Video over InternEt and Wireless
Technologies Laboratory, The Chinese
University
of Hong Kong |
|
Now that video cameras
are installed as a standard on every handheld
device, M-VOTE allows them to be used as input
and control interface to the device itself.
This supports novel user experiences, enables
new mobile video games, and provides a more
user friendly control method. M-VOTE is believed
to be the first engine capable of handling
real-time rotation detection just by using
the camera hardware. |
|
The
goal of the project is to implement M-VOTE
in mobile phones to track the movement of
the camera and hence the phone itself rather
than the objects viewed by the camera. In
this way, with
versatile phone movement, users can control
and play games more intuitively. In addition,
certain gestures and movements can be predefined
to trigger specific events, such as making
a phone call. Finally, the phone can also
become a pointing device to serve, for example,
as a mouse for cursor movement and input actions.
