Message from Mrs Carrie Yau
Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting

The development of information technology has not only enhanced the efficiency and productivity of our businesses and the overall competitiveness of Hong Kong, but also improved the quality of life of our community at large. Technological innovations have become a key driver of sustained economic development.

Since its launch in 1998, the IT Excellence Awards scheme has become one of the most prestigious, prominent and highly regarded events in the local IT industry. It serves to recognise our local IT talents for their innovative IT products, applications and services. The Awards not only stimulate research and development of local IT innovations, but also promote wider use of IT in our businesses and community, cultivating an IT-savvy culture in Hong Kong. All these in turn help enhance our position as a leading digital city in the globally connected world. The Government fully supports the Awards and I would like to commend the Hong Kong Computer Society for its commitment and dedication over the years in organizing the Awards to promote IT excellence in Hong Kong.

Finally, I would like to congratulate the winners of this year's Awards. They have set a good model for others to follow. I wish them every success in their business endeavours.
