Mr Raymond Ling Cheung Li Executive Director, Banking Policy Department Hong Kong Monetary Authority Raymond Li is the Executive Director of the Banking Policy Department at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority in charge of formulation of banking supervisory and banking sector development policies. He joined the Hong Kong Monetary Authority as Head of Banking Development in 1993 and was promoted to his current position in 1996. His projects included interest rate deregulation, financial disclosure by authorized institutions, property lending and mortgage policies, supervisory framework for stored value cards and money brokers, market risks, year 2000 problem, and money laundering. Mr Li estimated that currently 40% of his time is spent on the Year 2000 problem. His work included coordinating the HKMA's own Year 2000 effort, formulating supervisory policies for ensuring that the matter was appropriately dealt with by authorised institutions, participating in industry efforts both domestically and internationally in respect of the Year 2000 problem. He was invited by the BIS to act as a panel chairman in the Year 2000 Roundtable held in Basle in April last year, which formally started the international effort in tackling the millennium bug. Mr Li received a Bachelor of Social Science degree from the University of Hong Kong and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Henley Management College, UK. He participated in the Postgraduate Course of Administrative Studies for Hong Kong Administrative Officers at the Oxford University. |
