GoChinese Online Chinese Learning Platform

GoChinese is an easy-to-use, web-based educational platform that allows users to click or highlight any Chinese text to hear its Putonghua pronunciation as well as place the cursor over the text to view its definition. Its Hanyu Pinyin phonetics and Traditional and Simplified character forms are displayed and other learning features, including online assessment, are also supported. GoChinese has been effective in supporting both native and non-native learners of Putonghua Chinese.

This platform is unique in that it is entirely engine-driven, based on a text-to-speech module, 250,000-word Chinese-English dictionary database and linguistic engines. As a result, none of the spoken voice or definitions displayed need to be pre-recorded and GoChinese can effectively deliver courses, allow teachers to create lessons/exercises on the same platform as well as enable learners to study from any self-sourced content that they submit.
