Mr. John C Tsang, JP, the Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government, presented the 2012-13 Budget to the Legislative Council today. Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS), being the key IT professional association in Hong Kong, would like to find out the overall response to the Budget within the ICT industry, as well as additional suggestions to help the Government further enhance the development of this industry. Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS) announce A Practical Guide for IT Managers and Professionals on the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PD(P)O) (hereafter the Guide), the first sector-specific privacy guide. The Guide was compiled by HKCS with the support of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD). It covers a full spectrum of IT and technology applications, aiming to help enterprises, especially IT Managers and Professionals, to protect personal data privacy in compliance with the six Data Protection Principles (DPPs) in the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PD(P)O).

The "Development of a Certification Roadmap for IT Professional Certification" project aims to devise professional development paths for IT professionals, employers and professional bodies.

The main objective of the project is to develop a Certification Roadmap that can guide the advancement of an IT professional from one level of proficiency to the next with available certification information. A generally recognized Professional Proficiency Matrix will be devised for each IT discipline, which will form the basis of the Roadmap.

HKITPC has been the first local IT professional certification body for the IT professionals since 2007. In 2009 HKITPC launched three examination based title certifications: CPIT (Associate Project Manager, APM), CPIT (Information Security Officer, InfoSec), and CPIT (Business Analysis, BA).
