The Hong Kong Computer Society ("HKCS"), a non-profit making IT professional organisation, has been playing an integral part as a regional communicator on how IT is shaping and changing our lives. Founded in 1970, HKCS is committed to promoting the use of IT in Hong Kong and helping the business sector, the general public and the Hong Kong SAR Government to optimise their potential values through the use of new technologies. The Society has been organizing various computer conferences and seminars in Hong Kong and Mainland China, and has successfully developed an effective exchange platform for business decision makers and IT experts to share best IT practices. Since 1978, Hong Kong International Computer Conference (HKICC) has been a prominent example of HKCS's efforts in organising an annual international event for the Hong Kong's IT industry.
HKICC, a flagship event in the Hong Kong ICT industry with goals of gathering together IT professionals, business and government leaders from all over the world to explore the opportunities that information technology can offer, as well as to share their successes and insights. Every year, over 500 business executives and IT experts from the region participated in this prestigious event.
Over the years, HKICCs have invited renowned industry leaders representing local and central governments, banking and finance, retail, tourism and gaming, logistics and more to share their opinions on IT development and applications with the audience. It has been received generous support from the IT and business community and has successfully promoted experience and knowledge sharing between IT professionals in Hong Kong and the region for many years. HKICC2009 was a runaway success with renowned speakers leading the discussion of the vision for a sustainable ICT industry in Hong Kong; it attracted more than 500 delegates from both the business and IT communities.
Now in its 33rd year, the HKICC will continue its objectives of fostering an understanding of the latest technology trends as well as promoting the industry's professional standards by serving as an open platform for IT professionals in Hong Kong and the region to share innovative IT applications and their experiences. |
