Letter from Mr. Michael Leung

Dear fellow HKCS members,

It’s with much regret that I have decided to resign from HKCS presidency, and the Council is now electing a new President.

The past four years have been a rather tumultuous period in Hong Kong, and HKCS has strived to maintain its apolitical and professional stance at all times.  Within the Society itself, we have since come a long way in serving our members, enhancing our collective strengths, and in uplifting the professional stature of IT industry as a whole.

Thanks to the unwavering support of our advisors, members of the council and various committees, we have successfully organised many activities, events and programmes over the years.  The Youth Club, FACE Club, IE Club, iLEAP and CIO Board have become better placed to attract and retain our members, while the SIGs have recently been further realigned along seven key areas.

Externally, HKCS has been trying to forge collaborations with other professional bodies, notably with the HK Institute of Bankers on FinTech development, and with APICTA in support of their highly reputable IT awards each year.  Here in HK, HKCS continued to host the ICT Awards – Best Business Solutions Award, and was once again a leading participant of the IT Fest early this year.

Two particularly noteworthy understandings I must mention are the HKITPC, which will get a renewed push under the Professional Development portfolio, and the HKCS Foundation which will hopefully receive its Section 88 charity status soon.

I am deeply grateful for, and indeed humbled by, the confidence and trust, as well as the advice and support that members and staff have extended to me in the past years.  HKCS wouldn’t have become what it is today without its  members, and to you all I remain greatly indebted.

There are many challenges ahead and lots of work to be done – IT Summer Camp, HKICC, Gala Dinner etc.  I am confident that, under the leadership of the new President and Council, HKCS will overcome any difficulties and achieve greater successes in the time to come.

Best regards,

Michael
