About ITPCRS
IT Professional Certification System and IT Manpower Roaster Feasibility Study (ITPCRS) is a project on standardisation of the IT professional competency requirements towards a professional certification system for Hong Kong, and a feasibility study on a territory-wide self-sustainable IT Manpower Roster for long-term IT human resources planning in Hong Kong. An increasing number of organisations, both local and global, share a common vision in the need for identifying employees' qualification. ITPCRS, organised by the Hong Kong Computer Society and sponsored by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, targets to facilitate in materialising an IT professional certification acceptable by employers as a standard in professional-level, as well as providing the IT fraternity a roadmap for their progressive career development.
A Bridge between Hong Kong and the Mainland
Cross-fertilisation between Hong Kong and the Mainland IT profession is reckoned to be predominant in the near future. Although some of the IT examinations of the Mainland have been introduced into Hong Kong as part of CEPA-II, a door between the regions - a proper reciprocal recognition agreement with the Mainland certification bodies - is yet to be established. The project will therefore initially cover, yet not be confined to, certification schemes for 3 high-level IT professional positions - Project Manager, Systems Architect and Quality Assurance Manager - which the mainland marketplace has a high demand. This redounds to the possibility of mutual recognition with the Mainland framework. Committed to Inustry-wide Collaboration
The project is committed to extensive collaboration with the IT profession. It has sought a broad-based consultation and participation of the industry. Various IT veteran and relevant professional organisations' representatives have volunteered to participate in its project teams. Meanwhile, mutual recognition with related professional qualifications and synchronisation on competency areas with the Education and Manpower Bureau's Qualifications Framework are top-prioritised.
