The IT Excellence Awards were established for two major purposes: The application of Information Technology is essential to improve the operating efficiency of Hong Kong’s industries, services, product qualities and overall competitiveness. The IT Excellence Awards promote greater use of IT in the community, in turn helping to create a culture of IT usage in business as well as in daily life. Hong Kong already has all the basic ingredients for a successful Information Technology industry able to meet not only the domestic needs of Hong Kong but also those of regional and international markets. The awards encourage original software development and promote improved creativity in the exploitation of technology in the local IT industry.
