This is the third edition of the IT Excellence Awards, organised by the
Hong Kong Computer Society. The mission of the Awards is to recognise IT product
and application excellence, particularly in terms of quality and standards. They
are also designed to stimulate and encourage IT research and development on a broad front,
and to promote the increased use of IT by Hong Kong's industries and businesses.
Over the years the scheme can rightly claim to have brought greater recognition to the Hong Kong
IT community. As I look at this year's 35 entries, I venture to say that the Awards are also
serving as a spur to greater achievements. I thus congratulate not only the winners profiled
in this souvenir book but all whose submissions so well illustrated Hong Kong's rapidly
maturing IT culture.
On behalf of the Hong Kong Computer Society, I would like to pay tribute to the professionalism
and the rigour with which these Awards have been administered, judged and audited. I am also
pleased to acknowledge support from the Innovation and Technology Fund of the
Innovation and Technology Commission as well as constant and continuous encouragement and
support from the Information Technology and Broadcasting Bureau.
