Assessment Process

During the course of evaluation, assessors may require access to relevant information in the entrant’s possession and access to the entrant’s premises. The entrant will be notified in advance if such access is required. Any information supplied by the entrant for the purpose of the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2017 will be treated as confidential, and will not be released by the Organiser and related parties without the entrant’s permission.

Judging Criteria

1. Innovation and Creativity in ICT (20%)

- Showing innovation and creativity through use of ICT. First of its kind in Hong Kong, the region, or the world
- Effective deployment and integration of available resources or technologies
- Appropriate cost/ benefit ratio in terms of the R & D expenditure
- The possibility of a breakthrough in an upgraded version or any plans to develop an upgrade
- Credit should be given to company with sound, executable and proven business model, in which ICT is a key enabler

2. Functionality (20%)

- Understanding and addressing user requirements in the target industry
- Versatile in order to cater for operational efficiency and to provide a path for work re-engineering

3. Market Potential/Performance (30%)

- Reasonable sales figures in the last 12 months, market share and penetration
- Projected sales figures for the coming 12 months and marketing strategy
- Improved competitive edge and business performance in terms of efficiency and effectiveness
- Cost savings and contribution to revenue
- Critical functional and by-feature comparison with comparable products
- Generation of higher added-value

4. Benefits and Impact (20%)

- Satisfying customer needs that were previously not possible or had been unmet
- Raising public awareness of ICT
- Direct and indirect benefits to target user sector
- Transforming the industry

5. Quality (10%)

- Easy to set up, learn and use
- Quality of work, reliability, screen layout and presentation

- Degree of integration of mobile devices, internet, mobile operating systems, and business systems
- Security and privacy protection
- User friendliness including ergonomic design, response speed, and ease of navigation.

- Appropriate cost/benefit ratio in terms of the R & D expenditure (if applicable)
- The possibility of a breakthrough in an upgraded version or any plans to develop an upgrade
