HKICTA 2017: BEST BUSINESS SOLUTION AWARD

Objectives

Organised by Hong Kong Computer Society, and steered by Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2017: Best Business Solution Award is established for four major objectives:

The application of Information Technology is essential to improve the operating efficiency of Hong Kong's industries, services, product qualities and overall competitiveness. The awards promote greater use of ICT in the community, in turn helping to create a culture of ICT usage in business as well as in daily life.

Hong Kong already has all the basic ingredients for a successful ICT industry able to meet not only the domestic needs of Hong Kong but also those of regional and international markets. The awards encourage original software development and promote improved creativity in the exploitation of technology in the local ICT industry.

In the current age of mobility, smart devices, social media and Internet, e-Commerce, is a powerful and productive channel for business enhancement and attracting new customers. Innovation applications and products in e-Commerce developed and operated by our enterprises are recognised with a specific stream of this Award category.

The backbone of our economy is our SMEs, of which the adoption of ICT is crucial for its global reach in marketing strategy and business expansion. In each of the three proposed streams of Award, an Outstanding Award (SME) is presented to the most innovative application deployed, or product developed by an SME.

The Organiser

The Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS) is a well-established non-profit organisation that has been striving to improve and develop Hong Kong’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry since its founding in 1970.

HKCS is the first officially recognised professional association for the ICT industry in Hong Kong, dedicated to the promotion of the highest professional standards for the industry. Members hail from a broad spectrum of Hong Kong’s ICT industry, from corporations to like-minded individuals, all coming together to raise the profile of the industry.

During its over 40 years’ history, HKCS members have come to form the core of a wide and influential network throughout the whole spectrum of Hong Kong services and other industries. The Society offers a chance for Hong Kong’s communities to exchange ideas and to carry out a dialogue with the Government regarding ICT and its impact to the society. Being a highly active association, HKCS is regularly organising many activities to help promote ICT in Hong Kong, including lectures, discussions, seminars, and open forums on subjects related to ICT.
