Abstract:

Topic: 'The Infocomm Technology Startup Landscape in Singapore'

An increasing number of successful startups are emerging from Singapore as the city-state firmly establishes itself as the gateway to the rest of Southeast Asia. Wall Street Journal reported that venture capital invested in Singaporean tech firms by funds last year totalled $1.71 billion, ahead of Japan and South Korea. As it strives to become an IT powerhouse and a Smart Nation, Singapore is encouraging home-grown technology startups, and foreign ones, to create and sustain a highly IT-driven economy of the future. This presentation examines some of the key initiatives by various stakeholders in the Singapore tech startup ecosystem, and provides insights into collaborations between the government, academia, research institutions and industries that fuel the ecosystem.
