Mr. Paul WAN
Head, Governance & Controls, Technology & Operations, Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited

Paul is the Head of Governance & Controls for Technology and Operations at Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. As a representative of the Chairman Banks of e-Banking Security Committee of the Hong Kong Association of Banks (HKAB), Paul helped facilitate the discussion and formulation of the industry minimal control standards (the ��Standard��) for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) among member banks and HKMA. Such Standard has recently been approved by the HKAB main committee and endorsed by the HKMA in October 2014.

At the Bank, Paul is responsible for the governance for certain technology controls, such as End User Computing (EUC), Outsourcing Management and Data Security & Protection. Working closely with business and other functional operational risk stakeholders, Paul also plays a key role to ensure the control effectiveness of the technology and operations department through the Bank��s Risk Management Framework. This includes timely identification and assessment of potential risks and making sure mitigations are put in place with effective monitoring.

Prior to the current role, Paul held various management positions within the Bank including areas such as Senior Product and Process Management Manager for Unsecured Lending Products, Chief Operating Officer (COO) for a bank subsidiary that provided Merchant Acquiring Services and Programme Director for Global Assurance function.

Before joining SCBHK, Paul was Director, emerging technologies at Visa International and had had more than 7 years professional experiences in the card payment industry in Greater China and the Australasia regions. Paul began his career as a graduate trainee at IBM Australia.

Paul graduated from the University of Hong Kong (2001) and University of New South Wales, Australia (1989) with a Master degree of Engineering Science (e-Commerce) and a Bachelor degree of Electric Engineering respectively.
