I am delighted to welcome you the Hong Kong International Computer Conference 2012 (HKICC2012).

We are inspired by the enthusiasm, which has been evident since ICC was first held in 1978. HKICC has been providing an excellent platform for ICT professionals and policy makers to share their views and visions with other industry leaders around globe. This year’s conference is no exception and the theme – “ICT in a Volatile Economy – Creating Opportunities and Managing Risks”. Understanding the impact of technology on Hong Kong today, and predicting where it will take us tomorrow, is what HKICC2012 is all about. We hope to bring the world’s technology leaders to coverage in Hong Kong and share their insights on the future successful technology directions to follow with local business.

The great advancement of ICT has brought about dramatic transformation and improvement to modern life. And there’s no doubt that ICT would advance further and continue changing the world. In such a technology-driven era, all business sectors are encouraged to embrace the latest technology to keep abreast of the world’s development.

HKICC has been focusing on the latest technologies and striving to explore the most value of ICT to benefit corporations, government and the community. The hottest issues and trends in HKICC2012 will be examined, while exploration on creating opportunities and managing risks with ICT is bound to attract the most attention as many international corporations and SMEs are struggling to survive and further to generate business value under current volatile economy.

I am certain that with the impressive speaker list and participations of global ICT professionals, HKICC2012 will be another success by bringing forward inspiring insights and providing better solutions to companies.

HKICC comes again in this November. It is my great pleasure to serve as the chairperson of Programme Committee, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the committee members and all speakers from broad spectrums and regions. HKICC2012 would be absolutely another distinguished event to provide inspiration and solutions for business operators around the world.

Though recovered from the financial tsunami, the global economy today is still facing a number of uncertainties. While various economic bodies are seeking for breakthroughs, ICT should be one of the key factors to be considered. As digital information advances drive a convergence of technologies, the future promised more significant changes, unfolding chances and challenges. The theme the conference this year, “ICT in a Volatile Economy – Creating Opportunities and Managing Risks” is a topic in need of discussion of all involved in the world of ICT.

HKICC2012 will lay stress on technology trends and issues in 2012 and beyond, with a closer look at Could Computing and related topics such as data centre, big data in the retail industry, mobility and social media. World-class ICT experts, business leaders, academics and policy makers will gather at HKICC2012 to share their visions and solutions on creating opportunities and managing risks.
