HKCS EBSID Seminar: Shaping the E-Business Future in the Real Estate and Property Industry

Jointly organized by the AFM Limited, UFIDA (HK) Limited and the E-Business Specialist Interest Division of Hong Kong Computer Society, this seminar was targeted for the business professionals particularly working in the Real Estate & Property Management Industry. AFM Limited is the solution provider of the Building Information Modeling and Facility Management Systems in Hong Kong, representing the Archibus Facility Management system which is the first Solution for Total Infrastructure and Facilities Management in the world, with over 4 million users running it daily and saving over $100 Billion for corporations annually. UFIDA Software Co. Ltd. is the biggest software development corporation in China, with about 8,000 employees in China mainland and 2,000 partners, currently serving about 4 million users of over 600 thousands enterprises in Asia Pacific region. Among the Information Systems Management software market (e.g. ERP, CRM, SCM) in China mainland, UFIDA holds the biggest market share.

During the seminar, UFIDA¡¦s ERP consultants described the whole workflow among the land developer, estate owner, main-con & sub-contractors, then the property selling agents or partners. UFIDA provides the platform for the accurate information sharing and management decisions among different parties, these applications include but not limited to the Land Bidding, Land Development, Building Services, Project Management, Cost Control, Job Control, Material Control and CRM, but also fully integrated with its resources management systems, like e-HR systems. It has been illustrated with the help of one famous China developer ¡V The Country Garden Group (ºÑ®Û¶é) who shared the difficulties and advantages of using UFIDA ERP.

Apart from the business information side, AFM shared the Building Information Modeling and its application from the construction perspectives, property materials, components are built as attributes stored in the CAD drawing during the design stage, then these information could be further elaborated and spread over different parties like the architects, designers, engineers and even the workers. Eventually when the construction finished, buildings could be furnished with the different building services component like electrical, mechanical, firing and plumbing facilities, etc. While all of these information would be kept and maintained for tenants adoption once the building is being launched and in-use, as the cost of construction is an one-time cost whilst the Facility Management cost (operational) will be the life-long cost, say over 70 years. Therefore, it is justified to build an accurate information system for these facilities as a Total Infrastructure Facility Management solution ¡V by using Archibus /FM.

The seminar lasted for 3 hours, having over 40 participants, including the main land developers in HK, the professionals in FM, Property Management, and the HK major high-education institutes. The event was fruitful, as most attendees found the new trend in E-Business adoption for the Real Estate and Real Property Industry.
