Topic : " ISO 9000:2000 Quality Standards"

Abstract : The ISO 9000 standards are a set of international quality management standards and guidelines. Since their initial publication in 1987, they have earned a global reputation as the basis for establishing quality management systems. This has resulted in the certification of around 300,000 organizations world-wide.

The rules of the International Organization for Standardization require that all standards are reviewed every five years to ensure that reflect the best practice in the particular subject and determine whether they should be confirmed, revised or withdrawn.

The ISO 9001:2000 quality standards will be released in the third quarter of year 2000. It is necessary for all certified organizations to upgrade their existing quality systems into the new version 2000 within a specific time frame.

As compared with the current version, ISO 9000:2000 includes some new elements and requirements especially in areas of management commitment, resource management, process approach, and customer satisfaction.

The objective of the briefing is to introduce the key issues on the principles and requirements of the ISO 9000 Quality System Standards in ISO 9000 version 2000 and its transition plan from ISO 9000:1994 to ISO 9001:2000.
