Topic : "Quality Management in IT Development and Operations"

Abstract: Information Technology or IT has probably become the most talked about subject in our society today. A large amount of information and resources are available on Y2K or the Millennium Bug, Electronic Commerce, WEB Technology and related topics.

In comparison, it has been relatively quiet in the area of Quality Management in IT, a subject that is related and warrants at least equal attention compared to the others. This is largely due to lack of demonstrable practical experience and knowledge in this area of expertise.

Equipped with his vast experience in IT, Mr. Y.B. Yeung will talk about:

• The importance of Quality in the IT Industry;

• The key issues that need to be resolved to achieve quality in IT;

• Case examples of some of the quality related problems encountered,

• and Practical solutions and techniques to overcome the barriers encountered from a development and operational perspective.

In his talk, Mr. Y.B. Yeung will relate subjects discussed to real live experiences so that solutions provided are practical and workable.

Biography:
Mr. Y.B. Yeung is the Assistant General Manager and Head of IT of the HSBC, responsible for IT development, support and operations of HSBC in Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific region.

Y.B. Yeung is a member of the Board of Directors of SWIFT (The Society for Worldwide Inter-bank Financial Telecommunication)

Industrial/Professional Experience (over 25 years)
Mr. Y.B. Yeung has over 25 years of solid IT experience acquired internationally. He has occupied several positions of increasing levels of responsibility from systems analyst, systems manager to the Head of IT with several multinational organizations including the Nova Scotia Bank of Canada and HSBC.

Y.B. played a leading role in developing the Technical Infrastructure or umbrella within which all systems in HSBC are developed, supported and run, hence contributing towards positioning HSBC as a world class bank from a product and service quality standpoint.
