Objectives
  • To focus on developing Health IT Standards, Policies and Legislation etc., as well as to influence policy makers to ensure the effective application of IT for the benefit of healthcare development of our community.
  • To bring together all of the disciplines involved in Health IT and provides a two-way link between cutting edge development and grassroots practice.
  • To provide the necessary infrastructure and cross-development of IT professionals focusing on Health IT;
  • To develop IT professionals in Hong Kong to leverage IT for future Hong Kong Health Ecosystem;
  • To advance the understanding and use of information technology to promote health, with an express purpose to provide a platform for the discussion and promotion of the use of information systems in all areas of healthcare and health administration;
  • To act as a consultation mechanism for relevant national and international projects and standards on health informatics;
  • To draw on the latest thinking in the global use of IT both from within and outside the healthcare sector and its extensive knowledge of past activities and current realities in Hong Kong healthcare;
  • To provide practical advice for those responsible for the development and implementation of health information systems;
  • To establish links with which facilitate the sharing of experience among HKCS members, research, academic, educational, government, industry, social services, charities, patients, healthcare professionals and community groups.
