Patrick Y.K. Chau is a Professor in Information Systems at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He obtained his doctorate from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. At HKU, his teaching and research interests are in management of information systems, supply chain management and e-commerce. In addition to his teaching and research work, he has directed the undergraduate business programs of the University for four years from 2001 to 2005.

Dr. Chau has been active in the IT professional community and the HKCS. From 2001 to 2003, he was the Chairperson of the e-Business Specialist Group of the Hong Kong Computer Society. Since 2006, he has been serving on the Council in the area of Professional Development. From 2008, he has taken up the post of Vice-President (Professional Development) of the Society. One of his main tasks is to lead the development of the Certified Professional of IT (CPIT) scheme, the first IT professional certification scheme for the local IT profession. In the academic community, Dr. Chau founded the Hong Kong Association for Information Systems in 2006 and was President of the Chinese Association for Information Systems in 2007. In March 2010, he was appointed as a Chang Jiang Scholar (ªø¦¿¾ÇªÌ), a scheme jointly administered and awarded by the Ministry of Education, PRC and Li Ka Shing Foundation in Hong Kong.
