Dominic Tong is General Manager of IBM China/Hong Kong Limited, overseeing IBM's business operations and strategic development in Hong Kong. Prior to assuming his current role in January 2006, Dominic was Director, Financial Services Sector, responsible for the company's business in the finance and banking industry.

A 25-year IBM veteran, Dominic has held various senior management positions in sales, brand and product management, and has made significant contributions to IBM's Hong Kong operations. In 2000, he was appointed Executive, Systems Group, Hong Kong, managing the server, storage and printing systems business. Before that, he was Networking Systems Executive, IBM Greater China Group.

Dominic started his career with IBM as a Systems Engineer trainee in 1982 in Hong Kong. From then to 1987, he held various posts in the Personal Computer Branch including Systems Engineer, Product Manager and Dealer Representative. From 1987 to 1990, he worked in the Toronto Laboratory of IBM Canada as the AS/400 Languages and Utilities Product Planner. In 1990, Dominic returned to Hong Kong and assumed a wide variety of responsibilities encompassing PC Product Manager, AS/400 Systems Engineer Manager, Small & Medium Business Marketing Manager, Networking Business Manager, and Manager for Software & Networking Brand.

Dominic serves at the board of directors of ETI Consulting, a consulting services company by The University of Hong Kong. He also represents IBM as a founding member of the Digital Solidarity Fund initiated by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. In addition, Dominic is council member and director of industry development and policy of the Hong Kong Computer Society, council member of the Internet Professional Association, an advisory board member of the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a member of the Committee on Information Technology Training and Development of the Vocational Training Council.

Dominic is a graduate of the University of Hong Kong in Mathematics and Statistics. He is married with a son.
