HKCS HKSPIN Speaker's Meeting:
The Role of Testing in Service Transition

Overview
One of the goals of testing is to ensure that the software quality meets the standards of the organization. IT professional tends to focus on the technical deliverables of meeting the specifications and may devote less resource to the 'fit for use' of end-users, internal business colleagues and IT operations. In order to increase the value of IT systems to the business, more attention must be invested in the non-technical part of software system which encompasses deployment process, event and incident management, on-going performance monitoring, etc. The ITIL framework now covers the service management lifecycle, and has specific chapters on Service Transition which is the stage bridging design and operation. This seminar describes the Service Transition activities that are an extension to the traditional software testing domain.
